To perform the prayer, the worshiper's body, clothing, and the place of prayer must be clean. Prayer is performed facing the Qibla—the Kaaba sanctuary in Mecca. It is customary to use a special mat called a joynamoz (prayer rug) during the prayer. A person may pray alone or in a congregation; however, it is recommended to perform the Friday (Jumu'ah) prayer in a mosque with a congregation.
